2020 Year in Review

Posted on December 29, 2020December 29, 2020

2020 has been an eventful year, to say the least. A year filled with many unexpected events, significantly changing the way we live and work.

As the year draws to an end, I would like to share my reflections and experiences in my journey of writing online.

Investing

Let’s rewind to March 2020.

When we experienced the worst stock market crash this year.

Due to negative sentiments arising from the US elections, uncertainties about the COVID-19 pandemic, it has sent the markets into a frenzy and stock prices were at an all-time low.

During the crash, I have managed to purchase great businesses that were significantly undervalued. Allowing me to make over 25% gains in the individual stocks.

If I were to panic and choose to not stay invested, I would not have the chance to enjoy the returns now.

Never time the market. Remember everything comes in cycles, and stay invested during the downturns.

Relationships

This year has been a rollercoaster ride.

Due to COVID-19, we had to change our lifestyles – no dining at restaurants, cinemas, and entertainment centers are banned, wearing masks everywhere we go.

We also had to adapt to the new norm of working / studying from home.

Coping with these changes and uncertainties is difficult.

Staying at home most of the time, limited social interaction, not getting enough sunlight – Day by day, stress and anxiety creeps up upon many of us.

Looking back, this year was made better thanks to my family and friends.

It’s those who were there with you through the tough times, that matters.

Despite how busy life gets and if they are living far away, spend some time to appreciate those you care about.

Be thankful for your friends, and loved ones. After all, they are the ones that truly matter.

Self improvement

As I dedicate time to writing each week, it has allowed me to fill the gaps in my knowledge and gain clarity in my thoughts.

Writing has also allowed me to talk to like-minded people and discuss ideas.

Recently, my article was featured on Seedly, which has garnered over 3,000 views and quality engagements in the comments.

I look forward to writing more articles and content in the next year.

Happy New Year to all.

See you in 2021!
